Broadcast

DR & BDR will be elected. It do next-hop-self advertisement. 

Non-Broadcast

DR & BDR will be elected. It will not do next-hop-self advertisement.

Point-to-Point

Its default on Point to point media (HDLC,PPP). No DR and BDR election.

Point-to-Multipoint

No DR BDR elaection and sends hello as a multicast. It will modify the next-hop-self advertisement. 

Point-to-Multipoint-Non-Broadcast (NBMA)

No DR BDR elaection and sends hello as a unicast. Static neighbor statement required to establish neighbor-ship.

Loopback

Advertises network as a stub host. uses /32 host route
